Summer Camp Adventures - A Typical Day at Camp

Day in the life of a camper

Every day at summer camp is an adventure! At the eight branches of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, traditional and specialty camps are offered. While each camp day varies depending on the branch and camp you chose, below is an idea of what a typical camper's day can be like.

  • BEFORE CAMP CARE
Drop off as early as 7 AM. Before Camp Time is $25/week/camper (you must register in advance for Spark AM Care)

  • OPENING CEREMONY
Each morning we meet with our counselors and do our morning chant to get excited for the day ahead!

  • ICEBREAKERS
Some times we have icebreaker activities to get to know the other campers and make friends.

  • WATER FUN
The temperature is already rising so getting to jump in the pool or enjoy water games is a treat!

  • ARTS & CRAFTS
We get messy with paints and clay and showcase our masterpieces!

  • LUNCH
Mornings are so busy that we can’t help but build up an appetite. Always remember to bring a lunch.

  • SCIENCE & NATURE PROGRAMS
From hiking to nature walks and more, we have a blast outdoors!

  • WEEKLY THEME ACTIVITY
Every week features a different theme that engages us and keeps us motivated all summer. There are themes like Super Hero Week, Hawaiian Luau Week, Mystery Week, Under the Sea Week and more! Themes vary by branch.

  • GAMES
We often play board games and group games such as water balloon tosses.

  • SPORTS
Our counselors teach us sports skills and the importance of teamwork.

  • CLOSING CEREMONY
We round out our day with our closing ceremony and many of us then head to After Camp Care!

  • AFTER CAMP CARE
Activities continue after camp during after camp care, previously called Spark Time.  There is no additional cost for after camp care!
