(West Chester, PA) – Dave Mullin joins the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) as Executive Director of the YMCA Pickleball Center at Downingtown, the first YMCA facility devoted to the popular and growing sport.

Mullin brings twenty years of experience with YMCAs throughout the region, most recently serving as an Executive Director at the YMCA of the Chesapeake in Maryland. Prior to this, he served as an Executive Director with the Greater Philadelphia YMCA.

Combining Sports and Community
In addition to extensive experience with all aspects of YMCA programming, Mullin has a passion for all aspects of health and wellness. His background is in Health and Exercise Science, and he is a lifelong sports enthusiast.

“I have played sports my entire life and love what the sport of pickleball offers to our members,” says Mullin. “Across all of the programs we offer, my favorite is the Intro to Pickleball clinics. They are the gateway into this great sport – and allow members to become part of a strong social community. Pickleball is inclusive, and so is the Y!”

As a Y veteran, Mullin cares deeply about serving the community.

“I am passionate about helping people become the best versions of themselves while also serving in my community,” he explains. “At the Y, I get to do both. This is why I’ve chosen to stay within the Y movement for twenty years. And my new role allows me to serve in my community while also working in a one-of-a-kind environment within the Y.”

Wellness Beyond Physical Health
Mullin holds a degree in Health and Exercise Science from the University of Delaware and understands that health goes beyond what we see physically.

“Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed the influence that mental and spiritual health have on physical wellbeing,” Mullin comments. “Finding a place to belong and a sense of community is important to overall health. I am passionate about ensuring the Y is for all.”

YGBW offers a variety of pickleball programs to ensure that all find their fit. Clinics are taught by certified pickleball pros and are available for all levels of play. Additionally, the Y offers summer camps and youth pickleball lessons for children and Adaptive Pickleball for adults with disabilities.
