About CrossFit

All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

Overall, the aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results. The program prepares trainees for any physical contingency—not only for the unknown but for the unknowable, too. Our specialty is not specializing. While CrossFit challenges the world's fittest, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. (Courtesy of CrossFit, Inc.)

Why Do I Crossfit? The word ‘Crossfit’ often conjures misconceptions and stereotypes such as extreme weights or impossible movements. And whilst this is not necessarily entirely wrong, what it does include, which is much more important, is friendship, patience, and perseverance.

As someone who has regularly worked out over the past several years, Crossfit has continued my transformation of body and mind. It has, simply put, met me where I am, both physically and mentally. My journey to a better me until this point has been filled with peaks and valleys in terms of ability and desire as it pertains to injury, surgery, and recovery. But what I have realized over the many months is that Crossfit is a place where anyone can find a ‘home.’ Old, young, female, male, able, or not – all have a place. The reason behind everyone’s first steps into the ‘box’ – exercise, weight control, new friendships, increased confidence – does not matter. What matters is that the right fit can be found for any individual as it has been found for me. - Rama Mohan, East Chestnut CrossFit Member
