At the YMCA, we offer both basketball leagues and classes/clinics.
Basketball was first invented at a YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts by Dr. James Naismith in December, 1891. Since that time, YMCAs have been known for their basketball programs, emphasizing fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and inclusion for all. The YMCA of Greater Brandywine values those qualities while encouraging kids to be active – a benefit to them both physically and mentally, as active kids are not only healthier, but do better in school.
Dribble, pass and shoot your way to fun in our basketball leagues! Learn basketball skills and strategies while playing the game with friends, old and new. Basketball leagues run four times a year– early fall, late fall, winter and spring – and are open to athletes of every ability from ages 3 to 15. Each season is eight weeks.
Learn the fundamentals of basketball in a variety of classes and clinics which offer in-depth instruction in basketball skills and strategies. Basketball classes and clinics run at various times throughout the year and are open to all.
