On Thursday, May 4, 2018, the Kennett Area YMCA rededicated its wellness center to honor the legacy of the late W. Thomas Musser, a long-time supporter of the YMCA. Mr. Musser was instrumental in two capital campaigns that raised funds needed to build the Kennett Area YMCA in 1998, and then to renovate and expand the facility in 2012. In addition to leading both campaigns, the company Mr. Musser founded, the Tri-M Group in Kennett Square, donated the electrical work for both projects.  The in-kind value of those gifts exceeded $1 million.

Denise Day, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, spoke of Mr. Musser’s long commitment to the YMCA during the rededication ceremony. “Tom was a true leader and always had the best interest of his community at heart. He served for many years on the YMCA Association Board of Directors and was chair in 1999-2000. His generosity and strong support and commitment to the mission of the Y will never be forgotten.”
Doug Nakashima, Executive Director of the Kennett Area YMCA said, “Rededicating our wellness center in Tom’s memory will be a reminder to current and future members and staff as to how integral Tom was to our Y community.”

Tom’s wife, Bonnie; his son, Tom; his daughter, Tracy and her husband, Ron, attended the ceremony. Also in attendance was Jim Horn, who is currently CEO of the Tri-M Group, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, and several members of the Kennett Area YMCA board and staff.
