FOX29 anchor and host of Kelly Drives, Bob Kelly, recently visited the West Chester Area YMCA to participate in a Yoga class with cancer survivors who participate in Unite for HER and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA.

Unite for HER is a West-Chester-based nonprofit serving Breast and Ovarian cancer survivors across the nation. To promote holistic healing and to give patients more control over their cancer treatment journey, Unite for HER provides participants with a Wellness Passport that covers up to $2,000 worth of supportive therapies and services such as nutrition classes, therapy, acupuncture and more. Participants can choose how to use the Wellness Passport to support their own unique journey and heal from emotional and physical side effects.

One option on the Wellness Passport is a six-month membership to the YMCA, where those facing a cancer diagnosis can swim, meditate, participate in Group Exercise classes and otherwise tend to their physical, mental and spiritual health to promote healing.

In addition to receiving a free six-month membership provided by Unite from HER, cancer patients can further receive cancer support at the YMCA. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12-week program that teaches cancer patients and survivors how to incorporate strength training and cardio into their cancer treatment journey - in a gentle way, focused on healing. LIVESTRONG also includes a free 12-week membership for the family because a cancer diagnosis impacts the whole family.
