Holidays Can Be Hard

While the holidays bring celebrations of joy and happiness, it is equally important to acknowledge that this time of year can be stressful for many reasons. Challenges felt throughout the year are exacerbated during the holiday season and can lead to feelings of isolation - making community more important than ever.

No matter what you are going through this year, we are here to support you - as are others in our community. Being part of a supportive community can help you feel connected and less alone.

Below are a few resources that we want to share with you this holiday season.

  • Food Insecurity
Worrying about your next meal is especially stressful during the holidays - when we are bombarded with images of holiday meals and parties.

Need assistance? We offer food pantries at three locations for ALL members of the community. And, the Chester County Food Bank has a full list of resources on their website. You can also dial 2-1-1 from 8AM to 8PM, seven days per week, to get help finding resources.

Able to give? The Chester County Food Bank hosts food drives throughout the year. Or, you can contribute an end-of-year financial gift.

  • Financial Insecurity
The holidays bring an incredible pressure to do more and buy more, which is not realistic for many families.

Need assistance? Our Holiday Angels program is designed to help ease the financial burden at this time of year. While the deadline has passed, you may inquire about last-minute support at Welcome Desk at your local branch. UPDATE: We are thrilled to report that our community came together to support 1,300 families this holiday season. Thank you for your generosity.

Able to give? Our branches are collecting gift cards to support any families who request support this week. Visit the Welcome Desk at your local branch to ask if you can still contribute.

  • Shelter Insecurity
With cold temperatures setting in, the stress of shelter insecurity is heavy during the winter months.

Need assistance? Safe Harbor of Chester County provides a list of shelters located across the county. Call 2-1-1 from 8AM to 8PM, seven days per week, to get help finding resources.

Able to give? Safe Harbor of Chester County hosts their Pints for a Purpose fundraiser at 5PM on Dec 13 at Locust Lane Brewery in Malvern and their Santa Band fundraiser on Dec 19 at various locations in West Chester.
